Pele

Hot lava.
It flows from me in ribbons,
a scorching gift from
the place buried deep within,
a place of creation.
Let it cover you,
feel it burn,
be reborn in its wake.
Then bring it back to me,
its chemistry altered by yours.
Wrap me in it,
bind me in its essence,
tether me to its redoubled strength.
Because its burning rivers are no longer mine,
or yours.
It is now an igneous force,
larger and more powerful
than us both.
Its ascendance
ties us
together.

*****

Lashed
by fire.
I wear it on the outside,
where I can watch the
flames licking higher,
heat burning brighter,
inferno cinching tighter.
I'm going to be consumed,
and I want to see it
coming.
